For more than 100 years, Windsor Laurelwood has been providing substance abuse and behavioral health treatment services to children, adolescents, and adults.
Windsor Laurelwood Center for Behavioral Medicine offers its clients inpatient and outpatient programs under the supervision of expert addiction and medical specialists. Clients at this facility get comprehensive care in combination with 12 steps.
Established in West Medical Center, Windsor Laurelwood does not have colorful décor. The center provides essentials such as bedding and toiletries for its residents. Residents can bring a week’s worth of clothes, personal toiletries (non-alcohol), cosmetics, curling irons, and hair dryers.
They, however, cannot get their bedding, beverages or food, or personal electronic devices. Those who want to make calls can do so with the hospital phones. Smoking is allowed.
Windsor Laurelwood offers its clients two-level inpatient care. Adult clients who require medical support during withdrawal enter the inpatient detox program. Those adult clients who need a structured environment to prevent a relapse join Clinically Managed Rehabilitation Program or CMRP.
In the CMRP, residents are supervised by a medical team comprising addictionologist, nursing staff, as well as therapeutic counselors. Residents work in groups and also with counselors for creating customized plans to address chemical dependency issues.
Treatment approach at Windsor Laurelwood is multi-disciplinary and utilizes various therapeutic tools— individual and group therapies, 12-step recovery model, art and recreation therapy, and family programming. Even though the length of stay varies from client to client, the average length of inpatient care is about one month.
Windsor Laurelwood also offers its clients Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP). This is offered both in the day and evening keeping in mind the schedules of a majority of the clients. A step-down from residential inpatient care, IOP provides a mix of education and group therapy. Under this program, clients meet thrice weekly for six weeks.
The center also encourages its clients to participate in the 12-step recovery process. The residents also have to undergo random drug tests during the programs. Once the clients complete IOP, they attend once weekly aftercare program.
Windsor Laurelwood’s multidisciplinary treatment team comprises board-certified psychiatrists, registered nurses, psychologists, licensed social workers, activity therapists, and case managers.
Besides the above-mentioned, Windsor Laurelwood does offer Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) for clients who require an intensive yet short-term treatment. Clients attending this program attend group meetings for five days every week. This program address chemical dependency and/or mental health issues.
Clients having problems with opiate addiction can take part in Windsor Laurelwood’s Adult Chemical Dependency Partial Program. Under this program, clients are treated with Suboxone. The center also offers the clients a dual diagnosis program. This focuses on both chemical dependency and mental illness.
