Willowbrooke at Tanner opened its doors in 2009. Situated in Villa Rica, a western Atlanta suburb in the state of Georgia, Willowbrooke is a behavioral health hospital and is a part of the Tanner Health System. Willowbrooke at Tanner offers treatment for children, adolescents, and adults who have addiction issues, substance use disorder, mental health problems, or co-occurring disorders.
The programs offered at Willowbrooke campus includes acute inpatient treatment, Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP).
Willowbrooke at Tanner is a new kid on the block when it comes to mental health hospitals. This 92-bed facility is divided based on wings with beds for children and adolescents, adults, and seniors. A room is shared by two clients who sleep in twin beds. Even though the rooms have minimal furnishing, there is plenty of personal space for the clients.
The campus also offers rooms when a family visits the campus for family sessions, education or group therapy. Each wing has private courtyards. Courtyard at the children’s wing also boasts of a small playground. The nurses’ station acts as a central hub and can be easily accessed if any medical attention is needed.
Clients at Willowbrooke at Tanner are served three meals a day. They have the option of dining indoors and outdoors. They can select from the hot and cold spread in their buffet. Nutritional monitoring and special diets are made available upon request.
Clients begin their treatment at Willowbrooke with a free mental health evaluation. The inpatient program is a short-term program, and the average stay is less than a week. Once the assessment is complete, clients get a personalized treatment plan.
This plan comprises both individual and group sessions, addiction education, as well as holistic options like art, music, equine and animal-assisted therapies. Clients with co-occurring mental health issues receiving medication management.
Outpatient options provided at Willowbrooke include PHP and other holistic alternatives. There is also an IOP track offered at the campus. Willowbrooke also offers Regain at Willowbrooke – an outpatient rehab program for working professionals with alcohol and drug issues. The center provides daily transportation to clients who are seeking care in the PHP track.
Willowbrooke at Tanner is blessed with regard to staff. Since it forms part of the Tanner Health System, there is no shortage of doctors or specialists for care. The treatment team that serves patients at Willowbrooke include doctors, psychiatrists, licensed professional counselors, and therapists.
Besides the rehabilitative programs, the facility offers Tanner Intensive Family Intervention Program, which focuses on young children who have emotional and behavioral problems. It’s unique because the therapist will visit the child’s home and facilitate treatment. They work with family members to address the issue.
Another program offered by Willowbrooke is TIP or Tanner Intensive Program for Behavioral Change. This program focuses on adolescent boys between 12 and 17 suffering from compulsive sexual behavior problems. These teenage boys undergo treatment for four months (daily four hours, weekly five days) on the campus. The center offers to and fro transportation and meals for the boys participating in the program.
