A private treatment program, Wellness Resource Center, is based in Boca Raton, Florida. It provides comprehensive care for adults who are struggling with substance abuse issues as well as co-occurring mental health problems like anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, to name a few. Wellness Resource Center is a part of the Acadia Healthcare network.
Wellness has a clear demarcation between treatment facilities and living arrangements. The clients are housed in one giant apartment block aptly called “The Residence,” which has similarities to a mid-range Florida condo. At its maximum, Wellness can accommodate 52 clients.
Each living unit comes equipped with a kitchen and a combined dining and living area. Each apartment has two bedrooms and can house four people. The facility offers its clients a large pool with plenty of lounge chairs, but given their busy schedule, one wonders if clients can enjoy them.
The use of the internet is prohibited, and phone call timings are restricted.
Clients at the Wellness Resource Center are given grocery cards for buying all items essential for preparing their meals.
Treatment programs at Wellness Resource Center are designed for clients having a dual diagnosis and are of variable length. The center can handle several psychological ailments as well as addiction issues. After intake, the clients undergo a psych evaluation (unfortunately, detox is not offered), and a treatment track is designed.
While primary care program consists of group therapy, other therapies can include DBT, experiential therapy, and equine therapy. Even though Wellness does provide a one-on-one session, the vast volume of clients makes it a sporadic feature.
The center places a lot of emphasis on group therapy and 12-step to help clients build on their sobriety skills. They also offer insight into addiction through several weekend process groups, where people talk about their problems.
Days at the Wellness Resource Center are highly structured. Mornings start with meditation and chores. The first group session starts at 9:00 am. Clients attend three morning groups that rotate throughout the week. After the morning group sessions, clients return to the apartment for lunch.
Afterwards, the clients go back to the facility for more group sessions until 4:30 pm. They return to their apartments to enjoy some supervised free time. Mandatory off-site 12-step meetings follow this. After the meeting, clients return to their apartments for homework. Lights are out by 11:00 pm.
The treatment team at Wellness Resource Center comprises of few doctors, psychologists, psychiatrists and several therapists with different specializations.
Recreation is a strict affair as well and doesn’t have a lot to offer. Residents can take part in pre-approved off-site activities, provided they do not have any complaints against them.
Depending on their excellent behavior, clients are allowed to watch movies, go bowling, visit Delray Beach, or use the local gym.
Approximately $16,000 (30 days).
