Established more than 30 years ago, Turning Point Hospital provides treatment programs for substance abuse as well as behavioral health issues.
Located in Moultrie, GA, Turning Point provides inpatient and outpatient services. Some of the gender-specific treatment programs include on-site detoxification, medication management, as well as dual diagnosis support.
Sitting on 30 picturesque acres, Turning Point Hospital campus has flower gardens, manicured lawns, and a duck pond. The center’s main building operates residential as well as the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP).
The residential units are gender-segregated. The residents stay in shared bedrooms, which are furnished with twin-size beds, a desk, and adequate closet spaces. These residential units have a dining room, a common area equipped with a TV, offices, and therapy rooms. Residents can have smoke in designated areas.
As part of its treatment track, Turning Point Hospital offers an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) track. This includes providing sober living facilities on the campus. In this track, the one-bedroom unit is shared between two clients. These apartments have living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, and kitchens.
Residents are provided three meals, served cafeteria-style. Special dietary requests are accommodated. Residents are served coffee in the mornings and snacks in the evenings.
Residents in the IOP track have to plan and prepare their meals.
All programs offered by Turning Point Hospital follows the 12-steps recovery model. The gender-specific residential programs provide treatment programs typically lasting for nearly 21 days. Once this short-term program is complete, residents can opt for either an IOP or a PHP track. Turning Point does provide on-site medically monitored detox. The detox program runs for a minimum of three days to up to five days.
The residential programs offered by the center include 24-hour support and medical monitoring. These programs focus on the resident’s unique needs. This track follows a rigorous schedule. Daily group therapy sessions are held for several hours. Individual counseling is also conducted very frequently every week.
Group topics vary according to the programs but broadly cover 12-step program introduction, trauma, relapse prevention, life skills, self-esteem, grief, communication, parenting, anger management, and co-dependency.
Both individual and group sessions use CBT and DBT. The residents also have to attend several NA/AA meetings conducted outside the campus. For additional fees, Turning Point does provide psychiatric services and medication management to its residents.
Once residential program is completed, residents move into the PHP track. This track is nothing but a continuation of the residential program and allows residents to get additional inpatient support. The PHP track might follow the residential program structure, the only difference being the less time provided for individual counseling. As with other tracks, the treatment length is denpendent on the resident’s needs.
After completion of the PHP track, residents can continue to seek treatment in the IOP track. While a majority of outpatient programs offered by Turing Point allows residents to attend off-site treatment during the day time and return to the campus at night, the IOP track provides them a structured housing.
The track lasts for approximately six months and requires the residents to stay in sober apartments. During the weekdays, the program residents visit the main building and undergo medication management, group sessions, weekly individual sessions, and family medication. They also have to attend several 12-step meetings each week.
The Turning Point Hospital treatment team comprises physicians, psychiatrists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, several nurses, and CSACs.
Turning Point also offers a family program track that is offered in both individual and group settings. Family members take part in discussions regarding boundaries and co-dependency. They are also educated about addiction and the dangers associated with substance abuse.
Besides substance abuse treatment, Turning Point Hospital also provides a residential treatment program for mental health issues. For women, the center offers a residential program for trauma stabilization. These treatment tracks include recreational therapy, group therapy, and weekly three individual sessions.
