The Liberty Ranch, situated in the lap of Kings Mountain, in Kentucky, has been offering a safe and structured environment to individuals who seek treatment for alcohol and drug use.
This 7,600 square foot center has experience of more than two-and-a-half decades in treating people. Programs offered by The Liberty Ranch for adults include short-term and long-term residential programs, an Intensive Outpatient Program, and a transitional living house for women.
Set up in rural Kentucky, The Liberty Ranch boasts of being a safe and affordable recovery center. It is a community-based and peer-run recovery center where the staff is also in active recovery.
The Liberty Ranch is set up on 70 acres of woodlands and rolling hills. The center has a 6,500 square foot treatment facility and a 1,100 square foot facility for leisure. The Liberty Ranch offers 32 beds in rooms shared with other roommates. The housing units are gender-specific with the housing unit for women located one mile away from the men-only facility.
Residents at The Liberty Ranch cook their breakfast and dinner. Lunch is a much quicker deal at the Ranch. It is usually sandwiches (peanut butter and jelly), soups, or leftovers from previous meals.
The primary treatment approach at The Liberty Ranch is 12 steps approach. The residents are taught how to incorporate these steps into their daily life. The center believes that change from within is essential for having a sustained recovery. The facility teaches its residents accountability, self-respect, honesty, integrity, and self-sufficiency.
Besides the daily 12-step sessions, residents have to participate in goal setting workshops, peer groups, as well as resident meetings. They also participate in recreational activities like fishing, hiking, and volleyball. The residents also take part in individual and topic-specific group sessions.
While the facility recommends its clients to undertake treatment for 90 days, it also offers a treatment package for 30 and 60 days.
Apart from the inpatient programs, The Liberty Ranch also offers an IOP, a treatment option based on psychological principles and evidence-based practices. Clients in this program attend three sessions in a week, with each session lasting for three hours.
The sessions involve individual counseling with an emphasis on solution-focused therapy, along with medication management and family counseling.
The Ranch also offers a specialized program for women – a transitional living program that focuses on the needs of the women who are recovering from alcohol and drug abuse. Clients in this program are taught how to develop self-esteem, become independent, and actively engage in recovery.
A community-led center, The Liberty Ranch engages recovering addicts and program graduates as its staff members. While peer-led groups are the main focus of the programs, the Ranch does have services of experienced and qualified professionals.
Staff members at the Ranch comprise peer support specialists and case managers. The ration between staff and clients is 1:4
Besides those mentioned above, The Liberty Ranch does offer a family group program every Saturday. Led by the staff members, this program engages the clients’ families and educates them about addiction and the importance of communication in the recovery process.
Residents at The Liberty Ranch can use the gym, tennis and basketball courts for their leisure. The residents can also enjoy fire pits and trails. Outings to the horse park, scenic waterfalls, and zoo are arranged on the weekends.
