- Profile
A premier treatment center for alcohol and drug addiction in Arkansas, Oasis Renewal Center opened its doors in 2010. The center provides residential treatment programs to men and women, aged 18 and above, having substance abuse problems. Set on beautiful 48 acres of Little Rock countryside, Oasis Renewal Center offers its’ clients a setting that is complete with a running stream, trees, dogwood, and wild flowers. This provides clients a serene and calming atmosphere that aids in full recovery from the addiction problems.
Accommodations
Oasis Renewal Center’s cabin-style main building is quite impressive. It has a remarkable entryway – stone columns, high ceiling, and sparking tiled floors. While Oasis is co-ed, the 10 to 12 residents in the program stay in gender-specific log cabins. These hotel-like rooms are furnished with two nightstands, two twin beds, a closet, a desk area, and a bathroom with shower. While the center does provide fresh linens, towels, and comforters, residents can get their bedding.
Food
Residents are served three hot meals in the facility’s dining room. The beautiful room has an exposed beam ceiling and huge windows. The dining room has two ceiling fans that hang over the tables. The meals are prepared by a private chef. Oasis does accommodate special dietary requests, including a vegetarian diet. Some of the most preferred dishes among the residents include stuffed mushroom and risotto, purple cabbage and roasted chicken.
Treatment Program
Clients who wish to enroll in residential treatment programs have to be medically stable. However, clients who require detoxification services get a referral to a local hospital.
Upon completion of the detox services, clients undergo a thorough assessment, following which a customized treatment plan is created. The average length of treatment is around 30 days. The treatment plan includes 20 hours of individual sessions with a staff psychiatrist, group therapy sessions, and twice-weekly off-site and one on-site 12-step recovery meetings.
Oasis Renewal Center offers four major groups. An anticipation group where clients go through books on 12 steps, share insight with peers and focus on spirituality. The second group is a process group where clients open up about their addiction, personal issues, and other concerns.
The third group is the reflections group, where, as the name suggests, events of the day are reviewed by the clients. Clients also discuss emotional reactions. The fourth group is the relapse prevention group, where clients identify potential triggers and ways to address them.
Besides the 12-step modality, Oasis uses various evidence-based approaches such as community reinforcement approach, and Motivational Interviewing (MI). The community reinforcement approach specifically uses Therapeutic Education System offered by HealthSim, an interactive web program that treats chemical-dependency related health issues. This program is done on an individual basis and works through the assigned homework and exercises. The progress of the clients is monitored electronically.
Staff
The treatment team includes a psychiatrist, psychologist, and LCSWs.
