- Profile
Founded in 1966, Navos is counted as one of the biggest providers of community mental health service in the state of Washington. Following the merger with Ruth Dykeman’s Children Center in 2010 and Seattle Children’s Home in 2012, this Seattle-based facility, on its account, provides mental health services to nearly 40% of the entire youth population of King County.
Although the main focus of Navos is mental health services, it also includes an inpatient facility for psychiatric patients. Navos does offer rehab services to people with substance abuse disorder on an outpatient basis.
Treatment Program
Even though the substance abuse program offered by Navos does not have detox services, it can refer patients to a nearby facility. The Intensive Outpatient Program offered by Navos is a comprehensive substance abuse program. This program focuses on individual and group therapy sessions conducted several times a week. This outpatient program also addresses a client’s co-occurring disorders, with a particular emphasis being placed on dual diagnosis.
In this outpatient program, clients are provided medication management along with a psychiatrist visit. Each client is assigned a personal CADC who conducts individual sessions. The program offered by Navos lays particular emphasis on an evidence-based approach and utilizes CBT. It also introduces its clients to the 12-step process.
During the program, clients can use various resources that are offered by Navos such as a more rigorous mental health therapy as well as employment services which aim at providing the client a steady work while they complete the program.
Though there is no fixed time limit for the programs offered at Navos, a typical program lasts for several months. Once it is completed, the client is transferred to a pared-down outpatient program, which consists of less frequent individual and group sessions. Following this, the client starts an aftercare program, which comprises of an as-needed therapy session, regular interaction with a counselor and continued case management.
Besides the outpatient program, Navos also offers a 68-bed residential program for severe psychiatric patients.
Additional Facilities
One of the most significant benefits accruing from joining an institute like Navos is the vast resource that one can utilize. For instance, Navos offers its clients a wellness program called Journey to Life. This aims to facilitate a continued case management services such as assigning clients mental health professionals, a peer support specialist, and a support group for ensuring that the recovery does not falter once the outpatient program concludes.
