A nationally-acclaimed and one of the 20 institutions accredited by both The Joint Commission and CARF across the US, Mountainside Treatment Center is situated in rural northwestern Connecticut.
The center offers various treatment options for adults facing problems with substance use and dual diagnosis. Programs on offer include medical detoxification, residential and outpatient treatments, as well as sober living facilities. The center also offers a dedicated outpatient treatment track for adolescents.
Accommodations
Located in picturesque Berkshire Mountains, Mountainside Treatment Center is set on a 75-acre campus which is surrounded by hiking trails, trees, and waterfalls.
The center provides gender-segregated private and shared rooms for its adult clients. The rooms have abundant natural light. They are painted with soothing colors and offer great views.
Individuals undergoing detox process are provided private suites. These luxury suites include a flat-screen TV, king-sized bed, lounge area, dining area, desk, and a full ensuite bathroom.
Mountainside’s grounds also have dining halls, an auditorium, yoga and acupuncture studios, a chapel, rock climbing walls, basketball courts, and a fitness center. The center also has a large outdoor patio, jogging paths, activity fields, challenge courses, hiking trails, a zip line, and waterfalls.
Treatment Program
Admissions at the Mountainside Treatment Center start with a telephonic screening to determine the appropriate treatment. The detox program offered by the center includes 24/7 medication monitoring and support, as well as counseling and holistic therapies like acupuncture. Whether in residential programs or detox, the facility offers MAT with Suboxone, Vivitrol, and/or Sublocade.
Mountainside offers a 30-day residential treatment track which combines group, individual, and family sessions with an evidence-based approach like Seeking Safety, and 12-step approach.
Mountainside also provides holistic treatments like adventure-based counseling, yoga, acupuncture, massage therapy, and meditation to its residential clients. Adventure-based counseling comprises a ROPES (high and low) course, overnight wilderness trips, hikes, climbing, and fitness classes.
Besides the above mentioned, Mountainside Treatment Center also offers The Extended Care, a transitional living program. This program is offered in three phases and involves seeking employment at a nearby facility. The program aims at helping the clients transition from treatment to society.
Outpatient treatment options comprise an intensive outpatient program for six weeks, a standard outpatient program for ten weeks, and ongoing individual sessions.
The discharge plans are designed with inputs from both program graduates and the case manager. The center’s continuing care staff keeps in touch with the program graduates to make sure that they stay on the sobriety track. The alumni program includes regular alumni events, weekly recovery sessions, volunteer opportunities, as well as an alumni newsletter.

The staff at Mountainside comprises credentialed and licensed clinicians, including medical doctors, board-certified psychiatrists, registered nurses, addiction counselors, family therapists, and alternative healing practitioners.
