Founded nearly 40 years ago by Dr. Jacob Fishman and Charlie Roby, Maryland Treatment Centers, Inc. or Mountain Manor Treatment Centers offers a full continuum of care for people of all ages who are struggling with substance abuse. The center provides specialized services that primarily focus on adolescents and adults.
Clinical programs offered by Mountain Manor include assessment, detoxification, inpatient/residential, Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), day treatment, and outpatient services, which include treatment for mental health issues, substance abuse, and dual diagnosis, special education as well as prevention services. The Joint Commission has given treatment programs offered by Mountain Manor its accreditation.
Eleven facilities that provide substance abuse treatment are run by Mountain Manor. These facilities focus on adolescents (aged 13 to 17), young adults (18 to 25), and adults in the Maryland/DC area. The facility located in downtown Baltimore offers its clients detox as well as a residential course for adolescents and young adults who face substance abuse and co-occurring illnesses.
Mountain Manor offers a 46-bed adult residential treatment program at Emmitsburg. Residents are gender-segregated and assigned roommates (one-two) of the same sex. The dorm-style rooms have twin beds, armoires, and desks. The facility also houses New Horizons participants – a long-term residential program for court-ordered clients (25 residents) having co-occurring issues. It also runs Safe Harbor – a program for pregnant as well as post-partum women (25 residents) who attend the treatment program with infants and children.
Residents at this facility are provided comfort food, which includes home-cooked fish and chicken. The residents get three meals a day, served cafeteria-style.
Participants of both the adolescent as well as young adult treatment program live in separate units, which accommodate different needs of each age group. The Emmitsburg facility treats youth who had unsuccessful treatment at other places. The facility offers its residents an individualized treatment plan as well as solution-oriented approaches.
Mountain Manor also offers medication-assisted treatment for youth who have opioid addiction. The program uses Vivitrol (extended-release naltrexone) and Suboxone (buprenorphine) with individual and group therapy sessions. Family counseling is also provided to the residents.
The residential program offered at this facility combines medical and psychiatric care, motivational enhancement, as well as strategies for relapse prevention. The facility also provides assessment and treatment for co-occurring illnesses.
Mountain Manor school offers school credit, educational assessments, and advocacy for education and tutorial services.
Mountain Manor also provides Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment through the dual diagnosis clinic. The clinic offers an integrated treatment program that comprises medication as well as psychotherapy.
Mountain Manor provides IOP and aftercare programs to all those who complete the residential program or want minimal disruption to their lives.
The staff at Mountain Manor includes pediatricians, psychiatrists, psychologists, nurse practitioners, nurses, licensed social workers, certified addiction counselors, and counselor technicians.
