Accommodations
The model adopted at Morris Village is a therapeutic community model. The treatment program aims at facilitating change with the help of peer support. To foster a community feeling, the treatment facility is structured to replicate an actual village.
Residents live in the 14 cottages set up on the property, three to a room. About 30 beds have been earmarked for female residents. Every cottage faces a common courtyard. A barbershop, infirmary, and administrative offices are located in one central building. Residents can also access the physical activities center, post office, learning and resources center, as well as occupational therapy buildings.
Food
The residents are provided meals in the facility’s cafeteria.
Treatment Program
Admissions to the center are emergency, court-ordered, or voluntary. All incoming clients have to go through a comprehensive psychological assessment. Morris Village does offer psychiatric evaluation to clients on an as-needed basis.
Twenty to 30 days is the average length of stay at this treatment facility. The treatment approach at the Morris Village Alcohol and Drug Addiction Treatment Center is based on the 12-step recovery model. The center places a lot of emphasis on group sessions.
It also provides individual as well as family sessions to its clients. Case management, activity therapy, educational sessions, and vocational counseling are also offered. A unique treatment track at Morris Village is trauma-focused CBT.
Besides the treatment programs, the residents also have to attend the on-site Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Local community members lead these meetings.
