Established in 1993 by an act of Georgia legislature, McIntosh Trail Community Service Board (McIntosh Trail CSB) is a CARF-accredited institution.
The center offers developmental disability, substance abuse, and mental health services to residents of Henry, Butts, Fayette, Lamar, Spalding, Pike, and Upson counties.
McIntosh Trail CSB is headquartered at Griffin, and the headquarters also doubles up as the center’s inpatient facility. Besides the residential program, the center also provides outpatient (long term) program for adolescent and adults clients.
McIntosh Trail CSB’s residential program is for a very short duration (lasts anywhere from three days to five days) and is held at the crisis stabilization center. The accommodations offered are limited. Though it is technically not a hospital, McIntosh Trail CSB’s one-story facility has a layout that resembles a hospital building.
Residents share the room with another resident in a lock-down facility. The rooms have basic furnishing, twin beds, and a private bathroom. Since residents spend most of their time at the facility undergoing medical detox, McIntosh Trail does not provide any social or recreational activities.
Residents enjoy three hot meals a day, prepared by the staff and served in the cafeteria.
Residents begin their treatment at McIntosh Trail CSB with a detox under the supervision of a medical doctor assisted by the nursing staff, with visitations and inputs from the staff psychiatrist. Residents are provided medication management as well as have access to dual diagnosis when needed.
During their stay at the facility, residents undergo individual and group therapies, which are led by LADCs. Residents are also assigned individual case managers, whom they can interact during the week.
Once the residents complete the inpatient care, they are given the option of outpatient care. The center offers adolescent and adult clients programs focusing on substance abuse recovery, which can last for 17 to 24 weeks.
These outpatient programs offer clients several individual and group sessions in a week. Each session lasts for about three hours. Clients can also get ongoing psychiatric and nursing services, multiple offender evaluations, court-ordered evaluations, family sessions, anger management, and risk reduction classes.
McIntosh Trail CSB offers a wide range of services for clients with developmental disabilities. Clients can take part in a Community Access program that helps the clients in improving their life and social skills.
The center also offers Prevocational program that allows the client to get prepared for employment. McIntosh Trail CSB also provides a Supported Employment program for employed clients. It also offers several community residential programs and at-home care services for clients.
The center also provides comprehensive outpatient services that deal with mental health issues.
Approximately $150 (outpatient, 30 days)
