When it comes to offering office-based MAT (Medication-Assisted Treatment) for opioids as well as other substance addiction, Ideal Option is the national leader.
It was founded in 2012 by two ER physicians to address the need for comprehensive treatment for the opioid epidemic in the country. These physicians wanted to create a facility where effective and affordable treatment could be provided to patients.
Ideal Option offers both individualized treatment plans as well as Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) using Naltrexone and Suboxone. Clients who participate in this treatment program also take part in other mental health services.
Since its inception in 2012, Ideal Option has expanded its services to more than 65 locations spread across Idaho, Alaska, Oregon, Montana, North Dakota, Maryland, Minnesota, and Washington.
Treatment Process
Ideal Option offers on-site behavioral health services to its clients. Clients are given a weekly prescription which they have to fill and administer on their own.
When the treatment process is initiated, the clients can visit their local facility where a nurse will assess them for their medication needs. The facility runs several tests including lab work.
Once the assessment is completed, the client receives a treatment plan which not only consists of medications but also on-site counselor meeting. Ideal Option does not offer a 12-step foundation but encourages its clients to seek a community-supported SMART Recovery or NA if desired.
During the weekly visits, counselors, at various Ideal Options locations, offer their clients evidence-based therapy, such as CBT, DBT as well as MI. The clients are also provided case management services and psychoeducation. Ideal Option also caters to clients who need legal help.
Ideal Option does not offer treatment options just for opioids. They provide medication-assisted treatment for other substances such as methamphetamines, alcohol, and tobacco.
Staff
Ideal Option employs 100+ providers across its various sites. The treatment team includes MDs, PA-Cs ARNP, CRNP and other certified and registered medical assistants. Every Ideal Option office boasts of board-certified psychiatrists, an on-site certified psychiatric nurse practitioner, CDP, LMHC, LICSW, and CDPT.
In Summary
Ideal Option offers medication-based treatment programs and expects the clients to put in the yards to address their problem.
There are rules which any client has to follow when they attend an Ideal Option program, but the emphasis is to empower themselves and find ways to help themselves.

2 Reviews on “Ideal Option”
Ideal Option is one of the best addiction centers that I have known in this area of woods. The doctors are highly knowledgeable and know their stuff. Most importantly, they don’t prejudge you. The treatment plan was designed with me in mind and not what the hospital wanted. Overall, very pleased with the programs and the medical team. The only hitch during my stay was the somewhat laidback attitude of the support staff. Deducting one star for that.
Ideal Option is an okay center. Maybe it’s just me, but I felt the doctors and counselors were very mediocre. They were more interested in getting the sessions done with ASAP. The programs did benefit me, but given a choice, I will want to visit some other center. One nurse was excellent and the 3 stars are for her.
