- Profile
Established in 1949, Hazelden Facility in Center City, Minn, is run by the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation and is one of the numerous treatment facilities spread across the US.
The Center City facility offers residential as well as outpatient treatment to adults with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. The center also offers an on-site medical detoxification service.
Accommodations
A person is taken back to their college days when they arrive at the Hazelden Center City facility.
The sprawling, utilitarian campus does not look anything like the resort-like facilities that are offered by rehab centers dotting Southern California, but it does represent Hazelden’s idea of serious sobriety.
The rooms at the center are clean and modern, but it is basic. While most of the rooms are shared, Hazelden does offer private ones, but under certain circumstances.
Food
The food at the center is a hearty Midwestern cuisine and has a lot of meat and potatoes.
Treatment Program
Residents, upon admission, participate in a detailed assessment, which will allow the treatment team to develop a customized treatment plan.
The treatment method at Hazelden uses a combination of the 12-step process, evidence-based treatment, and integrated mental health treatment, which also includes medication management, as necessary.
During the residential program, the residents take part in group and individual counseling, attend lectures on addiction, relapse prevention strategies, and life skills workshops. Hazelden’s Center City facility offers a specialized track for professionals.
The center also provides help to clients who are battling opioid addiction. The rehab provides these clients with medication-assisted treatment.
Outpatient options offered by Hazelden’s Center City facility include a Partial Hospitalization Program.
Staff
The multidisciplinary staff at Hazelden comprises medical doctors, psychologists, psychiatrists, licensed alcohol and drug counselors, licensed professional clinical counselors, licensed social workers, and family and marriage therapists.
In Addition
While Hazelden does not offer its clients many of the privileges that other rehab centers offer, it does have some wonderful assets. The center, since 1954, has been running its publishing division. Hazelden has also started offering people a Graduate Degree program in Addiction Studies since 1999.
The center also runs an addiction research department. Besides these, Hazelden does sponsor various events that help the recovery community.
Cost
Approximately $32,500 (30 days). Hazelden is in-network with almost all major insurance plans.
