Established in 1969 and set in a picturesque 43-acre campus is Harmony Foundation, Inc.
A non-profit organization, Harmony Foundation offers a broad array of services for adult men and women who seek treatment for chemical dependency as well as co-occurring disorders. The center provides gender-specific residential programs as well as a transitional program.
Harmony also offers a specialized treatment track for young adults, aged between 18 to 23 years. On-site medical detox is also available.
Harmony Foundation offers accommodations for 74 residents. Residents stay in rustic double-occupancy cabins. Treatment services and dining takes place in several buildings that are spread across the campus. Recovery programs here lays emphasis on being close to nature.
To ensure that nobody strays from the recovery path, the center does not allow cell phones, and there is no TV on the campus. The residents can stay in touch with their family members through a payphone, which is available to use after residents complete four days of treatment. The call charges are covered under the overall costs.
The residents are served well-balanced meals. An on-site dietitian takes care of all the necessary dietary restrictions. Residents can also enjoy healthy snacks during their stay here.
Treatment at Harmony Foundation starts with a phone assessment (lasting about 20 minutes) followed by a physical. This is followed by a detox program that lasts from three days to ten days. After detox, clients either join the residential program or attend an intensive outpatient program (IOP).
The residential program comprises group and individual sessions, recovery education groups, and peer evaluations. Residents spend the afternoon for weekly meetings and educational groups.
The young adult track includes experiential therapies such as performance art therapy, mindfulness training, and weekly outdoor activities.
Harmony also offers medication management to clients who have co-occurring mental health problems.
A lot of emphasis is placed on the family at Harmony Foundation. Family treatment forms an essential part of the treatment process. Once a client has finished the program, two loved ones can come and stay for a weekend. The facility also offers family day workshops held every month. This workshop is open to all.
Upon completion of the residential treatment, clients can transition to a three-month transitional program where they engage with their peers and participate in 12-step meetings. They also take classes in relapse prevention, nutrition, and wellness while pursuing a job or volunteering.
Clients who relapse within one year of the program can participate in “Recommitment to Recovery.” This short-term residential program focuses on the reasons for relapse.
All program graduates can attend the weekly aftercare meetings for the rest of their life.
The treatment team at Harmony Foundation comprises of licensed psychologists, recovery house managers, addiction counselors, mental health therapists, as well as case managers.
Approximately $27,000-$30,000 (30 days, detox charges inclusive). Harmony Foundation accepts Aetna, Value Options, Cigna, and private payment.
