Hampstead Hospital offers “Recovery Matters,” a 10-bed three-phase program that provides a highly structured program combining the 12-step recovery process with evidence-based treatment like CBT and DBT. The program can be accessed as a step-down program after detox or as a referral.
Phase 1 of “Recovery Matters” is conducted in an acute inpatient setting. The phase aims at orienting the clients with substance abuse evaluations, medications, meetings with clinical staff, and family. These help in determining the treatment requirements and goals. Clients cannot leave hospital grounds during the first phase. This is to limit any distractions during treatment.
Phase 2 involves sub-acute rehab as well as partial hospitalization with an option for overnight stay. Clients in phase 2 attend at least six group sessions every day that focus on relapse prevention, addiction education, coping skills, and gender-specific issues. Clients have expanded privileges and can attend off-site activities and community meetings. Phase 2 also sees the introduction of psychiatric treatment and family into the program.
Phase 3 sees the clients continuing their therapy sessions (six hours during assigned days), as well as focus on aftercare plans.
Another IOP track is “Quitting Time.” This cost-effective program sees several therapy sessions in a short period. Besides the 12-step meetings, clients in this program attend educational as well as process groups that aim at helping them in identifying triggers and improve communication and relationship skills. This phase also sees multi-family sessions conducted during evening hours on Mondays.
