Based in Effingham, New Hampshire, Green Mountain Treatment Center is a residential care treatment facility for adults having substance abuse as well as co-occurring disorders. The center provides comprehensive treatment and includes traditional and holistic approaches.
Green Mountain Treatment Center’s residential facility is set on 72 acres and can handle 75 clients. The grounds have modern luxury accommodations, walking paths, and an apple orchard. The residences are gender-segregated, with the primary treatment center housing men’s facility. The main treatment center also houses a dining hall, cafeteria, and The Great Room, a room with a grand piano, love seats, fireplace, and couches.
The female clients are housed in two large cabins located in a wooded area just across the charming walking bridge.
Each room is shared by two residents and is equipped with private bathrooms. The spacious and comfy rooms have dressers, full beds, and closets. Both the residences have living rooms, a lounge with comfortable couches, TV’s, and dining tables.
The dining room has a warm glow to it, courtesy the wood-paneled ceilings and an elegant light fixture.
Exercise forms an integral part of the treatment program at Green Mountain. Residents can use the on-site gym, which is equipped with elliptical, stationary bikes, treadmills, Stairmasters, free weights, as well as yoga mats to work out. Residents can also take part in therapeutic gardening in a greenhouse located across the male residential units.
An on-site chef prepares meals from a dietician-designed menu. Meals are served cafeteria-style. Residents are also offered coffee, fruit, salad bar, and dessert options.
The programs offered by Green Mountain Treatment Center are gender-specific, which ensures that the male and female clients do not interact during their stay at the facility. The programs are either a 30-day or 90-day program.
The center offers a structured treatment approach with daily group sessions, chores, meditation, and the Big Book Study. Residents also attend psychoeducational groups and daily off-site 12-step meetings. A dual diagnosis track is also offered. This program includes medication management and regular meeting with a psychiatrist.
A typical day at Green Mountain Treatment Center involves waking up early in the morning, meditating, and attending daily household chores. After breakfast, residents attend a community meeting, and process or relapse prevention groups until lunch.
One-on-one therapy sessions are integrated into the weekly schedules, as required. Focusing on the specific needs of the clients, these individual sessions utilize evidence-based approaches like EMDR and DBT.
Residential clients can meet their families during the weekend. Group activities such as dinners or movie nights are also arranged on the weekends.
The staff at Green Mountain number around 100, and include a clinical team of CADCs and LCSWs.
Upon completion of the treatment program, the graduates work with their therapists to develop an effective aftercare plan, which can include enrolling in an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) or living in a sober living facility. Green Mountain also provides referrals for additional treatment options in the community.
Approximately $17,500 (30 days).
