Center Category: Rehab Centers
Started in 1982 with a generous donation from the Scranton family, Geisinger Marworth Treatment Center is located in Waverly, a small town in Pennsylvania. Focusing on providing quality treatment, Geisinger Marworth runs a 91-bed facility.
The center is known for unique programs focusing on uniformed professionals and health professionals, acknowledging the unique challenges faced by the addicts working in these professions.
Geisinger Marworth is set up on a 27-acre wooded campus and has been witness to several additions over the past few years, such as upgraded fitness area and new dining wings. Facilities-wise, Geisinger Marworth offers gender-segregated living quarters boasting of twin beds in a room, but nothing very flashy.
The center follows a no-nonsense approach and has a strict dress code for its residents. While male residents have to wear knee-length shorts, which should not be made of spandex, female residents have to wear baggy style track pants.
Workouts are the only time when residents can wear shorts, sweats, and yoga pants. Even though the center is not plush, it is an upgrade from lower-end rehabs.
While Geisinger Marworth does not provide a bouquet of recreational opportunities, they encourage exercises for body and mind. Besides gym facilities, it also offers an outdoor basketball court, low ROPES course, art and music therapies, trust-building and team-building activities, as well as outdoor recreation in the campus and local parks.
The center does not permit laptops and cell phones, but cigarettes are allowed. The longer a resident stays in rehab and complies with all the rules, the more privileges they earn.
Since the center also offers treatment for an eating disorder, residents are offered a health-conscious spread, which can range from dairy-free and/or vegetarian to meat-based wholesome and hearty American meals.
When it comes to treatment, Geisinger Marworth is very particular about following the 12-steps approach of AA, and every resident has to attend regular community meetings. However, this approach is offered in conjunction with the evidence-based approach, with treatment plans being highly customized.
The center provides full medical detoxification for needy residents, including opiate addicts. It also allows residents to include three acupuncture sessions in their detoxification program.
Besides individualized treatment plans, the center also offers specialized support groups catering to PTSD, trauma, and relationship issues. Every resident is encouraged to take part in on-site family programs.
Besides residential care, Geisinger Marworth also offers outpatient treatment facilities during daytime and evenings to meet the scheduling requirements of its clients.
To make the treatment more affordable, Marworth is bequeathed with a large endowment fund as well as has tie-ups with numerous insurance providers.
Approximately $32,000 (30 days).
