Since its inception in 1983, Gulf Coast Mental Health Center, located in Gulfport, MS, has been offering numerous treatment programs for substance abuse and mental health ailments. The center mostly caters to people residing in southern Mississippi.
Gulf Coast, through its Crossroads Recovery Center, offers an inpatient as well as an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), which follows the 12-step recovery principle and uses evidence-based modalities like CBT.
The center, however, does not offer any dual diagnosis or detox services.
At Crossroads Recovery Center, there are around 20 beds for residents undergoing residential treatment for substance abuse. While ten beds are kept aside for men, the rest are designated for women. Two residents share a room. The residents are provided with personal storage space.

Residents undergoing treatment programs are provided with three meals, served cafeteria-style. Residents can get their own snacks, but they cannot bring any homemade snacks.
Crossroads offers a 30-day long inpatient treatment program. A typical day at Crossroads has residents waking up by 6:45 am. They take part in group sessions from 8:30 am, which runs into the evening.
On Mondays, clients are taken outside the campus to attend off-site NA/AA meetings. Tuesdays are set aside for group sessions for multiple families.
Outpatient treatment programs at Crossroads comprise the group and individual therapy sessions. The IOP tracks last for 12 weeks, three nights every week. This is followed by nine months of outpatient group and individual therapy sessions.
The treatment team at Crossroads Recovery Center comprises therapists, counselors, and case managers. For the initial 30 days of the treatment program, clients meet two CDACs. After this period, they are paired up with a single therapist. Peer support counselors also assist the treatment team. These counselors are alumni of the program.
During their treatment, residential clients can visit the nearby gym in the morning or take part in meditation. They can also enjoy other recreational activities like going to a park or beach, bowling, or any other recreational activities.
Once the inpatient treatment phase is complete, residents transition to a continued aftercare program for 48 weeks. During this time, they take part in weekly group sessions. They also have a monthly individual therapy session with their counselor.
Crossroads Recovery Center offers a specialized track for multiple DUI offenders. For these clients, Crossroads offer a state-certified 20-hour program that starts with an assessment and also has group and individual therapy component.
Crossroads also provides prevention services to community groups and local schools.
