Cottonwood Tucson opened its doors to the public in 1987. A holistic addiction and behavioral health treatment center, Cottonwood Tucson offers medical detoxification as well as inpatient treatment for people who are having issues with addiction, eating disorders, as well as dual diagnosis.

Dinner options include brown rice, Asian firecracker beef, chicken breast, etc.
A CARF accredited treatment center, Cottonwood Tucson seeks to address a variety of behavioral disorders, which include substance misuse, PTSD, love and sex addiction, video game addiction, and spending addiction. Cottonwood Tucson also offers a treatment program for gambling addiction. Treatment programs offered by Cottonwood last for nearly six weeks.
The programs use traditional treatment approaches like psychoeducational lectures, 12-step approach, group, individual, and family therapy sessions. The center also uses evidence-based modalities like EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing). However, Cottonwood is more famous for its holistic options. These include a ROPES course, Tai Chi, equine-based therapy, nutrition, and spirituality coaching.
Upon completion of the treatment program, the program graduates are provided an aftercare plan, which includes either continued psychiatric work or therapy, attending the 12-step meetings, and referrals to any further treatment.
The treatment team at Cottonwood Tucson comprises a board-certified MD in psychiatry and addiction medicine, nurses, Master’ s-level therapists, a pharmacist, an acupuncturist, and licensed clinical social workers. Many members of the staff teach at local colleges and universities, like the University of Arizona’s School of Medicine.
