Opened in 2015, Cottonwood Springs is situated in Olathe, a suburb of Kansas City. The facility provides residential and outpatient facilities for the treatment of addiction and mental health disorders in adults. Treatment options offered include medical detoxification, inpatient care, Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), and a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP).
This 72-bed facility provides modern comforts and amenities. Nestled in a private, park-like campus, Cottonwood Springs has outdoor areas for exercises and walking, and an indoor workout room. Based on the level of care required, residents are housed into three 24-bedded units. Cottonwood Springs offers both gender-specific and private rooms with shared bathrooms.
During their treatment, residents are provided three delicious and healthy meals, cafeteria-style every day, based on the menu designed by a nutritionist. Dietary restrictions are considered while preparing the menu.
Every resident, when they enter Cottonwood Springs, undergoes an initial assessment. Based on the test result, a customized treatment plan is developed for each resident in coordination with staff members. Those who need detoxification before starting the treatment can do it on-site. Once they are stabilized, residents can begin the inpatient program, consisting of group and individual therapies for ten hours every day. Treatments offered at Cottonwood Springs utilize an evidence-based approach like cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapies.
Residents step down to PHP based on their progress in an inpatient program. PHPs are conducted from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Friday. A resident undergoes IOP as the last phase of the recovery process before individual outpatient appointments. Consisting of three group therapy sessions, IOP is conducted Monday through Friday for nearly three to four hours.
The IOP sessions are held in evenings to enable the residents to attend daily commitments like school, family, and work. Even though 12-step is not insisted on during this phase, residents are persuaded to participate in numerous on-site meetings in a week. Residents can also seek help for their co-occurring disorders.
Staff at Cottonwood Springs comprise of medical doctors, registered nurses, CSACs, LMHCs, psychologists, and LMSWs, as well as additional Master-level clinicians.
Besides the above-mentioned, Cottonwood Springs also provides personal wellness programs that include yoga, art therapy, nutrition counseling, pet therapy, and workouts. Cottonwood Springs encourages family involvement through family education sessions, as well as family meals for inpatient residents.
