Established in 1989, Cornerstone of Recovery is based out of Louisville, Tennessee. A residential treatment program for adults, Cornerstone offers programs for substance abuse, co-occurring mental health issues, and on-site medically managed detox. The center also provides a specialized treatment program for veterans.
Cornerstone offers a 35-bed residential program in a facility closely resembling an office space. Two residents share a room furnished with a twin bed. The unit has a shared common area where residents can relax during their free time and watch TV. The facility does not allow laptops and cell phones. Residents desirous of working out can do so in the gym.
During ideal weather conditions, the residents can enjoy smoking breaks, serene walks, and outdoor yoga classes. Residents are also offered weekend outings to movies, bowling, and the Smoky Mountains.
Residents enjoy their meals, served cafeteria-style in the center’s dining hall.
Prospective clients begin treatment at Cornerstone with a comprehensive evaluation. Based on the results, the team creates a personalized treatment plan. Based on severity, clients may undergo medically monitored detox. Once they are stabilized, the participants are transitioned to an adult residential program offered by Cornerstone. The program typically runs for 28 to 35 days.
The treatment approach at Cornerstone is based on the 12 steps. A majority of the therapies and activities take place in a group setting. Some clients, however, may also require additional physical and psychological assessments. Residents undergo group therapy sessions, educational programs, 12-step meetings, family therapy sessions, and recreational activities throughout the day.
While Cornerstone offers a residential program to adults aged above 18, they also provide a special residential recovery program for young adults aged 18 to 26. This specialized track focuses on energy levels, behavior styles, and developmental issues specific to these young adults.
Successful graduates are offered aftercare services for 18 months after their discharge.
Staff at Cornerstone of Recovery includes a board-certified psychiatrist, physician specialized in the field of addiction, registered nurses, licensed psychologist and drug and alcohol abuse counselor, and a pharmacist.
Approximately $17,000 (30 days). Cornerstone accepts most health insurance plans such as Aetna, United Health, Cigna, and more. It does not, however, accept Medicaid and Medicare and HMOs without out-of-network coverage.
