A state-of-the-art hospital, CenterPointe Hospital, is an independent 150-bed hospital that offers behavioral health and psychiatric services for adolescents, adults, and families. Individuals who struggle with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders can avail a residential or outpatient treatment program here. The center also offers a medically-monitored detoxification program.
The main hospital campus offers inpatient as well as outpatient services for chemical dependency along with co-occurring disorders. Outpatient services are provided at various satellite offices that are spread across southern Illinois and northern Missouri.
This St. Charles, MO, based hospital is located on 33 acres in the St. Louis suburb. The clients who attend the programs are housed in gender-segregated units. Each room has single beds and is shared by two clients, who also share the bathroom. Even though the interiors of the hospital are modern, but the overall look makes one think of being in a sterile hospital.
Clients attend group therapy sessions in a functional group meeting rooms. The hospital offers an outdoor reflection area which contains few benches. The facility, however, provides a multi-purpose/gym where the clients can either sweat it out or enjoy some indoor games.
CenterPointe clients have a variety of options to choose from during each meal. They can access a full salad bar, which is offered both during lunch and dinner. They also have two to three entrée options. Besides the dining area, CenterPointe also provides several vending machines for its clients. Clients can also work with dietitians concerning their eating disorders and/or special dietary needs.
Clients requiring medical support and stabilization during withdrawal start their program at this facility with inpatient detoxification. This takes around seven days. During the detox, clients are under the supervision of a physician. They receive medical guidance round the clock. Clients are also exposed to Hazelden’s curriculum and 12-step program during this period. Once they are assessed and medically stabilized, clients are either transitioned to a residential program or an outpatient treatment program.
Inpatient treatment at CenterPointe Hospital lasts for four weeks. Residents of the inpatient program follow a structured program that involves learning about trauma and ways to address them. Residents undergo individual as well as group therapy sessions. They also have to attend 12-step meetings that are conducted on the campus.
Residents are taught about coping skills, relapse prevention, and mindfulness through various workshops and educational lectures. They are given time for reflection. Besides this, the residents also attend other therapeutic activities. Medication management is also provided to clients who require them.
Outpatient care at CenterPointe Hospital is either a step-down or a stand-alone treatment option. The hospital offers an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) as part of its outpatient program. Clients attend PHP meetings five days a week with sessions lasting a full day. IOP sessions are usually half-day sessions and conducted thrice in a week.
All program graduates are provided with weekly aftercare groups.
The treatment team at CenterPointe includes physicians, activity therapists, nurses, dieticians, addiction counselors, and social workers.
