Founded in 2008, Beachway Therapy Center is based in Florida. This private alcohol and drug rehab center offer residential and outpatient care for adults having substance abuse problems and co-occurring mental health issues. Medical detox is also provided to clients.
Beachway’s main clinical center features a well-lit, large central meeting place, private offices, as well as a green-walled “studio” for art therapy, yoga, and music therapy. The living accommodations and treatment facility is separate. This rehab has a total capacity of 54 beds.
The rooms on offer include both private as well as semiprivate rooms, each with a typical beachside apartment feel. The housing units come equipped with shared bedrooms, small kitchens, and flat-screen TVs. The bedrooms are furnished with twin beds.
Residents are not allowed computers, but they can get their video game systems.
As part of meal preparations, residents are taken on a supervised grocery trip each week, where they can spend a certain amount (approximately $70) on groceries.
Residents prepare their meals in the apartments. Residents usually share the cooking duties and have their dinners together.
Residential treatment at Beachway typically starts with off-site detox at a place selected by either the client or the staff, who takes care of all the logistics.
Upon completion of detox, residents transition to a treatment program that lasts anywhere from a month to three months. The facility uses the 12-step model along with the evidence-based approach as its treatment modality, primarily leaning towards DBT.
Residents take part in group and individual therapy sessions, family therapy sessions, and holistic modalities such as equine, art, and psychodrama therapies. The center also offers women-only and a Christian treatment track.
Outpatient options offered by Beachway Therapy Center include partial hospitalization program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). The PHP track involves attending 20 hours of sessions in a week, while the IOP track involves nine hours of meetings in a week. The IOP track is primarily designed to act as an aftercare plan.
The treatment team at Beachway Therapy Center comprises a medical director and includes Master’s level therapists, licensed social workers, and certified education counselors. The center boasts of a low client-to-staff ratio with one staff member for six residents.
Besides attending conferences and AA and NA picnics in the community, Beachway also takes its residents for surfing, fishing, snorkeling, or bowling during their recreation time. The center also offers an onsite spa, manicures, massages, and chiropractic services. Hairstyling and pedicures are also offered, but for an additional fee.
Residents can entertain visitors on the weekends. Family members can visit their loved ones from the second week of the treatment.
Aftercare plan in Beachway’s treatment model is a gradual step-down process. As part of its aftercare, Beachway offers The Next Right Step. This intensive program involves one individual counseling and three group sessions every week, life skills courses, as well as sober living facilities. This aftercare program is open to outside clients also.
Approximately $20,000 (30 days).
