Based in Atlanta, GA, and a part of Ascensa Health, St. Jude’s Recovery Center offers gender-specific treatment programs like residential and outpatient services, a co-ed half house, and permanent supportive housing for low-income adult patients having substance abuse as well as co-occurring mental health problems.
This facility also offers on-site detoxification services, one of the few substance abuse treatment facilities to do so in the state of Georgia.
The detoxification unit run by the St. Jude’s Recovery Center offers 20 beds, while the Family Care Center can accommodate 22 patients. The men’s living arrangements have a total capacity of 49 beds, and the total number of beds for female clients is 16. Both the veterans’ recovery and the halfway house have eight beds each. St. Jude has also set aside about 42 beds for the homeless with special needs.
The rooms in the residential tracks are furnished twin beds, closets, dresser drawers, desks, and chairs. Two bedrooms share a bathroom. Rooms in the Family Care Center are private. The bathroom is fitted with a sink, shower, and a mirror and shared with another bedroom. Cribs, towels, linen, and toiletries are provided upon request.
While the residential program is gender-specific, the center’s halfway house is co-ed. Clients in the residential treatment track can interact with other gender during social times like lunch or walks on the grounds.
Residents are served three meals in the facility’s cafeteria. Meal options include ethnic cuisines like Asia, Mexican, and Italian; special diet requests are accommodated.
St. Jude’s Recovery Center, as part of its treatment approach for behavioral, mental, and physical issues, uses various comprehensive, evidence-based treatment methods. The center also offers a detoxification unit for 20 patients. The detox program is medically monitored and can last for 13 to 16 days. Upon completion of the detox, residents are transferred to the appropriate treatment tracks.
Programs in the residential track involve group and individual therapies, treatment planning, on-site 12-step sessions, and continuing care. The center also gives its residents education about health and nutrition, job readiness, life skills training, other workshops, which will help the residents prepare for a future after treatment.
The center requires its residents to acquire suitable employment by the time the treatment track is completed and also attend addiction treatment meetings in the evening hours. St. Jude also provides medication management.
Staff at St. Jude’s Recovery Center does include a physician, an intake clinician, social workers, and case managers.
Besides the residential and outpatient tracks, St. Jude offers a special housing program for the homeless, a halfway house, and also a veterans’ recovery center.
For gaining admission into the housing program, the residents need to undergo an intense addiction treatment for six months. Residents in the veterans’ program and halfway house are subjected to random drug tests. They also attend aftercare groups two days in a week.
St.Jude’s Recovery Center does accept monetary donations to finance the treatment of a majority of its clients who are either from low-income groups or homeless.
