Established in 1961 and based in Meridian, Mississippi, Alliance Health Center is a 154-bed hospital offering substance abuse and acute care psychiatric services for adolescents, adults, and elders. The center’s campus also houses Crossings, a 60-bed residential treatment center for adolescents.
As part of the substance abuse services, Alliance Health Center offers detoxification and stabilization, Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) for those in need of substance abuse services.
Accommodations
Alliance Health Center offers on-site detox and short-term stabilization services. A total of 17 clients sleep on twin beds. Private or shared rooms are allotted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Clients in the PHP track can choose sober living facilities with Alliance. The sober living track offers 20 rooms for female clients. Depending on the census, the clients might end up sharing the rooms with other clients. The living accommodations have a common living room and a dormitory-style bathroom complete with multiple showers and stalls. The center also offers 15 beds for male clients in a 9,000-square-foot house. The house has five bedrooms and bathrooms that are shared by the clients.
Food
Meals are eaten at the Alliance Health Center’s dining room fitted with a beautiful chandelier. Breakfast options include bacon, eggs, and pancakes. Lunch and dinner options include fried chicken, spaghetti, roast beef, and hamburgers. Clients can have caffeine and sugar at this facility.
Treatment Program
Alliance Health Center’s treatment starts with detox. Most of the clients spend a week to ten days at the detox unit receiving therapy for dual diagnosis and as well as undergoing medically managed withdrawal.
Upon completion of the detox, the clients are transitioned to the New Leaf Recovery Program, for a PHP track. Clients in this track are provided living accommodations for a month or more depending on the customized treatment plan. This track involves attending daily group and individual sessions for weekly five days. IOP track is step-down care. The clients stay in their accommodations and come for weekly-thrice group sessions and monthly once individual therapy.
Clients in the PHP track start their day at 6 in the morning, with meditation at 6:30. They go for a morning walk at 7:00 am, and breakfast at 7:15 am. Smokers can take a smoke break at 7:45 am. At 8:45 am, residents attend a spirituality group. An hour later, residents take part in a self-exploration group, which is followed by a break at 10:45. Dual diagnosis group is held at 11:00 am and a 12-step study at 11:45 am.
Clients take a lunch break at 1:00 pm, followed by an activity group. An addiction education group is held at 3:00 pm. Clients take a break after this, attend a homework group till dinner, which is usually taken at 6:00 pm.
Clients can call their loved ones and take meds after the final meal. An AA meeting or Celebrate Recovery meeting is held after this, followed by another process group. Lights are out by 10:30 pm.
Besides these groups, clients also have to attend daily 12-step meetings mandatorily. Clients are encouraged to get sponsors.
Staff
The treatment team at Alliance Health Center comprises psychiatrists, mental-health technicians, nurses, therapists, social workers, and case managers. The center provides 24/7 care to its clients.
In Addition
Exercise time is incorporated into the treatment schedule of PHP clients. They are also offered alternative therapies like art and recreational therapies. The track also has a weekly family day, which includes group therapy and education.
Pre-approved visitors are allowed from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Saturdays.
